The auditorium, lighting and acoustic panels have been revamped as part of a 300 million forint renovation that started in April, Deputy Mayor Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky told a press conference.
The theatre’s director, Pál Mácsai, said that over 400 experts had contributed to the project to upgrade the theatre.
The Örkény is relaunching its “Name a seat!” sponsorship scheme in which audience members “buy” a seat.
The theatre is presenting six premieres in the coming season, Mácsai said. Shakespeare’s Henry IV., Kaffka’s Matamorphosis, Ferenc Molnár’s The Swan, Pioneer’s Heart by Kapitanova, The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and von Kleist’s The broken jug will complete the repertory, Mácsai said.
